Episode 1 - Introductions

So Welcome!

These blog posts will explain some of the references and backgrounds for each episode for those who are interested!

In this first episode there is no mythological basis as what with it being the introduction I was more focused on establishing the characteristics of the two characters, Athena and Apollo (Played by Emily Porritt and John Fish)

My original idea was to have Apollo be the person in charge of the channel. However, after doing a survey on the Gods I found out that not a lot of people knew about Apollo and therefore I changed to Athena.

Apollo, God of the Arts, in my adaptation is in charge of the creative and technical side of the episodes. Apollo is also very full of himself and that is something that is established in Mythology and something that I will revisit later in the series.

Athena, Goddess of Wisdom and Battle Strategy, is much more familiar to people today. In Fact Athena is my favourite Goddess as she sticks up for herself and is downright awesome! I had Athena be the face of the videos as among the Greek Gods she seems to be the best entry point for people today. What I mean by that is that a lot of people today have very strong opinions about the Gods (especially Zeus) and Athena is one of the ones that, at least according to my survey, people seem to like a lot.

So I hope you enjoyed the first episodes if you have any comments or questions please feel free to respond on the contact us section of the site!

Next time, Find out what happens in a Day in the Life of Athena
