Athena and Poseidon are two Gods who seem to buck heads more than any other. They're both headstrong and don't like to give up without a fight!
This episode has lots of little references to Mythology, in particular to the Odyssey which is my favourite Classical tale.
One of the main conflicts between the two in my mind is from the Odyssey. Athena's favourite, Odysseus is trying to get home after 10 years fighting in Troy. He accidentally stumbles across Polyphemus, a Cyclops, who kills some of Odysseus' men and so in kind of self defence Odysseus takes a sharpened stick and sticks it in Polyphemus' eye (ouch!) Polyphemus calls to his father, Poseidon to curse Odysseus to never return home unless he is meant to and then he asks that Odysseus has a hell of a journey home. And Poseidon grants his son'd wish. Odysseus spends a further 10 years trying to get home. Clashing with creatures like, Scylla and Charybdis who are mentioned in my video.
Athena and Poseidon talk about previous fights like Troezen and Athens. These were both cities that they fought over. Zeus did actually force them to share Troezen and In Athens the people chose Athena as they preferred her gift of an Olive tree to Poseidon's horse/sea (there are differing tales)
Next: Athena takes Poseidon's advice to heart and tells the other side of the story
